Re: Have we signed a turkey in Said Benrahma?
No turkey rather he is a diamond that needs polishing to bring out the best in him.

The inference from picking up what the coaching staff have said is that he needs to learn and employ the full responsibilities of a PL midfielder.

I think he will be a top player for us.

Spot on.

Re: Have we signed a turkey in Said Benrahma?
I believe we have. He looks out of his depth in the Premier League to me. His decision making and distribution of the ball when in possession is poor and he looks lightweight and not up to the task.

I can understand Moyes' reluctance to start him.

Once he acclimatises to Premiere football I think he'll be a great asset he's got quick feet and obviously a football brain unlike Haller sadly.

Whatever his future at WHU I don't see how you can call Benrahma a turkey. I don't really understand the modern concept of buying a player and giving him a season bench time but he's a top creative player and will hopefully prove this with us or someone else.

Re: Have we signed a turkey in Said Benrahma?
He needs to learn how to keep or protect the ball better and last night he gave the ball away cheaply far too much.

What was better was his work off the ball, pressing and tracking. Playing for the team.

Let’s hope the coaching team can teach him to use his body to protect the ball better.

Jury still out but he has the rest of the season to work on his game.

Too early to say.

Though he's looking like he'll be good on the early signs. Not there yet.

Having seen more of him, I rate him.

He needs games badly though to improve on his weaknesses and show his strengths.

Sadly, still not convinced Moyes really wanted him.

Sullivan’s are fingerprints all over Said.

Good call, he was part of a massive improvement for us, even with the pedestrian Frenchie. The shape came alive when Antonio was up front.

Definitely 4 across the back for me, and Cresswell is lukewarm in that format, so we need a left back so we can keep Benrahma in the starting 11 and be a bit more creative.

I think benrahma could be a sullivan signing,

Good player playing for the wrong manager

Re: Have we signed a turkey in Said Benrahma?
He's been a complete and utter waste of funds so far, considering we've been struggling in areas of the pitch 90% of us said needed strengthening in the summer.

Not really his fault, and more to do with Moyes not wanting to play him.

Should have kept Diangana

Couldn't disagree more, balders old chap.

We need to start with 4 at the back again, and stick Benrahma in the middle, supporting the striker. We need to shape our whole team around him. He will create chances.

Maybe a bit too adventurous for the Moyesiah.

Def think we have been sold a Turkey

The irony is Diangana and Haller were linking up well in preseason and liked playing alongside each other.

You are correct in what you say but in the case of Haller there is no other recognised leading, central striker to replace him with until Antonio returns. Otherwise, he would have been dropped. I suspect Moyes may be tempted to try Yarmalenko in that central position if Haller continues to look so immobile, weak and unable to hold the ball up. Yarmalenko may not fare any better but he looks more mobile ( my next door neighbour who is 93 looks more mobile ) and prepared to be a bit more aggressive.

Anyway, lets see how we get on tonight. Johnson will continue in the Arfur role but I and most others expect Lanzini to start instead of Noble ( not a hard choice that) and perhaps Yamalenko coming on or even starting ahead of Bowen or Haller ( suspect the former although my armchair expertise says the latter).

Re: Have we signed a turkey in Said Benrahma?
Benrahma creates opportunities on his own out of nothing. He would also benefit from players ahead of him making runs. Against Leeds he went on a great run and had Haller standing still next to a defender. That was it. He had Watkins and Maupay making runs for Brentford. I hope our next striker is one that makes run after run and looks to get in behind. Lanzini, Benrahma and Yarmolenko will benefit from that greatly.

Re: Have we signed a turkey in Said Benrahma?
Hope I am wrong but I doubt we will ever see whether he is any good or not without a change of manager and ownership.

Re: Have we signed a turkey in Said Benrahma?
It’s just a fanny to excuse him for picking Noble twice in preference to Benrahma, and ending up looking a cunt for having to hook Noble after the worst 45 minutes team performance I can remember against a team near the bottom

scott_d 3:39 Tue Dec 29
Re: Have we signed a turkey in Said Benrahma?
Moyes: "Retention of the ball is one of the things Saïd Benrahma needs to work on to get himself more game-time."

Funny that Haller can give the ball away as much as he likes and Moyes will still start him.
